HackerHouse2024: Workshop for Software Engineers to Get Started with Solana

Overview

SuperteamUK is excited to announce a bounty for software engineers to produce a workshop video to help others get started with Solana. The workshop should be detailed and engaging, aimed at developers who are new to Solana.

Prize

• Winner: $200 USDC

• 2 Runner-ups: $100 USDC each

Workshop Requirements

The workshop video should be between 30 minutes to 1 hour and cover the following topics:

1. Solana Account Model:

   • Explain the Solana account model.

   • Draw an analogy between the Solana account model and a file system.

2. Solana Transactions, Instructions, and Accounts:

   • Discuss how transactions, instructions, and accounts work in Solana.

3. Solana Program Derived Account (PDA):

   • Provide an example that demonstrates the use of a Program Derived Account (PDA).

4. Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) vs. Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM):

   • Explain the differences between SVM and EVM.

   • Highlight what makes Solana faster and cheaper than Ethereum.

5. Small Coding Example & Challenge using solpg.io:

   • Include a coding example and a small challenge using solpg.io to help viewers practice what they've learned using both Rust and Typescript.

Submission Guidelines

1. Record the Workshop:

   • Produce a high-quality video covering the topics listed above.

   • Ensure the video is clear, well-organized, and engaging.

2. Upload to YouTube:

   • Upload the video to YouTube.

   • Ensure the video is publicly accessible.

3. Share on X (formerly Twitter):

   • Tweet the video link and tag @SuperteamUK.

   • Use relevant hashtags to increase visibility.

4. Submit Your Entry:

   • Submit the YouTube link through our bounty submission form.

Evaluation Criteria

• Content Accuracy: Ensure all information presented is accurate and up-to-date.

• Clarity and Organization: The workshop should be easy to follow, with a logical progression of topics.

• Engagement: The video should be engaging and maintain the viewer’s interest throughout.

• Quality: High-quality audio and video production values will be considered.

• Creativity: Use of visuals, examples, and other creative elements to enhance understanding.

• Winner Announcement: 7 days from now
