About this track

Jupiter. Solscan. CoinGecko. Built out of Malaysia, used by the whole world.

Nothing about being here stopped them. They picked problems everyone had and happened to solve them from KL.

Most Malaysian founders still don't build that way. We size the idea to Malaysia, price it for the local market, and wonder why it stays small.

This track is the opposite bet. Start with a problem you actually understand, one you can see from where you are sitting, and build it for the world from day one.

Malaysian businesses are a good place to start. Exporters wait days for settlement. Freelancers lose a chunk of every invoice to FX and wire fees. SMEs that could sell to the world stay local because the financial plumbing was never built for them. None of that is uniquely Malaysian. Solve it here and you have solved it for every emerging market with the same problem.

Solana is the plumbing. Near-instant settlement, sub-cent fees, stablecoins that move like a message.

How this fits with Colosseum

Colosseum's Crypto World's Fair runs 14 September to 12 October. This edition is open to every ecosystem, with dedicated tracks for Solana, Base, Hyperliquid, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Tempo, Robinhood Chain and Zcash, plus a chain-agnostic general pool.

This side track sits on top of the Solana track. Your project competes for Colosseum's prizes as normal and separately for ours.

Building on another chain? You are still welcome at everything we run. The build station in KL, the workshops, Roast My Pitch and office hours are open to every team in the hackathon regardless of chain. The prize pool below is for Solana builds.

What to build

Pick one specific Malaysian user and one specific pain. Some directions:

• Cross-border payments and stablecoin settlement for exporters, SMEs and merchants

• Global invoicing and payouts for Malaysian freelancers, agencies and creators

• Commerce tools that let local sellers accept payments from anywhere

• Trade and supply chain: invoice financing, provenance, halal certification trails

• Tourism and hospitality payments for inbound visitors

• B2B tools that plug Malaysian businesses into Solana liquidity and DeFi rails

• AI agents that handle cross-border operations (x402, agentic payments)

Not limited to these. If it helps a Malaysian business earn, sell or settle globally, it fits.

Side track: Solami

Solami is Solana infrastructure for builders and traders. Private RPC, the Yellowstone gRPC firehose, decoded DEX market data, webhooks and transaction landing, all behind one API key on their own bare metal. Teams move to them when public endpoints stop being good enough.

They are putting up $2,000 for the best build that uses Solami as the data path. Not a token call bolted on at the end. Read the chain through their APIs, send through Beam if your product writes as well as reads, and run it live on mainnet.

Eligibility

To be eligible for Buatan Malaysia, your project must:

• Be registered on the Colosseum platform with Malaysia selected as your base country

• Have at least one team member based in Malaysia

• Be built on Solana

• Meet Colosseum's official eligibility requirements, including: new startups that have not raised significant outside capital (<USD 2M), one project per builder with no joining multiple teams, and disclosure of any pre-existing code

• Be submitted to both the Colosseum portal and Superteam Earn

• Register with us here and join the builder group

• Pitch IRL at our Demo Day in Kuala Lumpur on Oct 4.

Only work completed during the hackathon window is judged, by Colosseum and by us.

• Best use of Solami, judged by the Solami team. Awarded separately from the track placings, so you can win both. Remember to submit here as well to be considered.

Judging criteria

1. Real problem, real user. Name the Malaysian business(es) you are building for and the pain they have today. "SMEs" is a category. "Penang durian exporters waiting five days for payment from China" is a user.

2. Working product. Live demo preferred.

3. Solana-native. Speed, cost or composability has to be central. A wallet connect button is not an integration.

4. Path to users. Who are your first 10 customers and how do you reach them? "Organic growth" is not an answer.

5. Regulatory awareness. If you touch payments, stablecoins or tokenised assets in Malaysia, show us you have thought about BNM and the SC. You do not need every answer, you need to know the questions.

6. Team. Can you keep shipping after the hackathon ends?

Best Solami Build, judged by Solami

1. Solami does real work in the build, not a single basic API call

2. Runs live on Solana mainnet and the demo clearly shows it working

3. Clean and reliable enough for someone else to clone and run

4. Solves a real problem for traders, builders or Solana users

5. Does something interesting with the stack, or combines the tools in a way they have not seen

Submission requirements

• Submitted to the main Crypto World's Fair hackathon on Colosseum

• Link to a working demo or deployed product

• Public GitHub repo. While we encourage projects to open-source their code, you may keep it private and share it with malaysia@superteam.fun so only the judges can review.

• Pitch video, 2 minutes maximum

• Demo video, 3 minutes maximum

• Short write-up: 1-liner, the user, the problem, why Solana, what is next

• For the Solami prize: public repo with a README anyone can run (setup, env vars, how to point it at their own key), plus a 2 to 3 minute demo running against live mainnet.

• Submissions close: Oct 10, 12 noon
